Parents speak out!

Parents of Trans Kids Speak Out is a parent-led grassroots advocacy group supporting trans young people to live their best lives. This website is for people who want to take action to support trans young people but are unsure of where to start, and for those wanting to learn more.

Disinformation and biased reporting are rampant and hurt our community. This website is driven by fact, informed by lived experience, and aims to steer clear of ideology.

Our immediate aims are to:

  • Demand the reinstatement of Stage 1 and Stage 2 hormone therapies via the Queensland public system

  • Link families to peer support and community

and:

  • Give our children a voice and ensure their lived experience is heard

  • Collaborate interstate and internationally to protect care

  • Advocate for access to affirming mental health services

  • Combat the stigma generated by anti-trans rhetoric

  • Fight the disinformation campaigns targeting trans young people

  • Seek accountability for harm caused by Government health directives

Our long-term aims are to advocate for:
  • Human rights for trans and gender diverse young people

  • Appropriate funding for community organisations that support our young people

  • Non-discriminatory policies in schools consistent with human rights

  • Equitable access to bathrooms and other gendered spaces for trans young people

Fighting the ban on hormone therapies

The Queensland Government has banned all new prescriptions for gender-affirming medical treatment for under 18s through the public system. Currently this ban in effect until 2031 awaiting the results of the UK PATHWAYS study, which has been heavily criticised for being unethical and designed to fail. These decisions have forced families to seek costly private care for their children, have put pressure on the private system, or have forced children to go through the wrong puberty.

On 28 October 2025, the Queensland Supreme Court ruled that the ban was unlawful. Nonetheless, the Crisafulli government reinstated the ban the next day. Currently there are other legal challenges taking on the ban. While this is encouraging, we need to be proactive.

Take action!

Join us in advocating for trans young people to get the support and live the lives they deserve.
